If your TV requires Digital Light Processing (DLP) technology, it may require a new lamp every so often. However, the procedure is a rather simple one, taking into account different TV models and your own personal level of ease with electronics.

First you will need a screwdriver. Depending on what model you have, this might be a flathead or Philips head screwdriver. You will also need a soft cloth, preferably a microfiber cloth, and again, depending on the model of your television, an allen wrench.

The first thing you need to do is to make sure your TV has cooled off sufficiently. Usually this takes half to one hour of no use. For safety, it is advisable to unplug your television before you proceed beyond this point.

Next you need to locate the cover of your lamp on the TV. This is usually on the back or the side of the set, depending on which model you have. Use the screwdriver to uncover the door and this will expose the place you need to insert the new lamp in.

Now, if you are replacing the bulb, use the microfiber cloth (and the allen wrench if the bulb is secured inside) to slowly withdraw the old bulb from the television set. Be sure to be gentle, and to not cause any damage to the internal machinery.

Use the cloth again to wipe off any dust on or near the set; make sure not to let any dust in the TV set as this might cause problems later on.

Gently insert the new lamp in place of the old one, with the bulb facing inwards and the handle side at the bottom. If your TV set has a screw to secure it in its place, use your allen wrench to secure the bulb, again taking care not to damage any internal machinery.

Now the installation is for the large part, complete. It is advisable to dust off the installed lamp and any exposed machinery at this point, after which you should replace the lamp door and use your screwdriver to secure it in place.

This is a fairly easy procedure; however, you are advised to take your time with it. Do not try to force the old lamp out or the new lamp in. This might damage the internal machinery or perhaps you are inserting the new lamp wrong. Take care to follow these instructions as given step by step, and soon you'll find yourself at ease replacing and installing DLP Lamps in your television set!
